Level 29 PvP Hunter Twink Weapons

A twink is a player character that is disproportionately powerful for its level, possessing potent items and high-end enchants that are generally way beyond the means of other players at that level. Twink items are acquired through rare drops, drops off of bosses in instances, as rewards from very difficult to complete quests, as gifts, or from the Auction House. Twink items on the Auction House are usually very expensive. The enchantments twinks typically have on their equipment can be performed only by higher level characters at the top of the enchanting profession and are usually very expensive. Therefore, twinking usually requires significant assistance from high-level alts, friends, and / or guild members. However, there are examples of self-made twinks that generate the necessary gold from Auction House trading or other in-game methods. Twinks are mainly used in PVP fighting or in Battlegrounds. WoW Wiki

Some careful planning and a little bit of luck is needed for this next level of PvP twinking and you’ll need the assistance of a high-level friend for the best kit. So, without further ado and in order of most desirable:

Master Hunter’s Rifle / Bow

Obtained as a quest reward from the Big Game Hunter quest you can choose between the gun or the bow. The quest itself is the culmination of the four Mastery quests from Hemet Nesingwary Jr. and friends in northern Stanglethorn and involves the killing of King Bangalash, the great white tiger.

As soon as you hit level 28 head over to Hemet’s camp with an ungrouped high-level friend and pick up the first quest line, Panther Mastery. There are four parts to this quest with the final reward of Panther Hunter Leggings, very nice reward but as they are Bind on Pickup (BoP) we sadly won’t be able to put Clefthide Leg Armor on them. The next quest line is another four-parter for Tiger Mastery and gives Tiger Hunter Gloves as a final reward. The final pre-requisite is Raptor Mastery, again with four quests. The last quest requires the slaying of Tethis, a raptor hiding round the back of the Gurubashi Arena and rewards you with not only the unlocking of Big Game Hunter but also a Raptor Hunter Tunic. As you can see, we need to complete 13 quests for this rifle / gun and that’s a lot of XP. Start early, remain ungrouped, and just “tag” each beast with a shot before letting your friend finish it off.

Ironweaver

The Ironweaver is a random drop and therefore you’ll want to keep an eye on the Auction House. The slow-speed, high maximum damage is what beats the next (difficult to obtain) weapon.

Nightstalker Bow

It’s instance time! At level 23 you can get inside Razorfen Kraul (RFK) in the deepest South of the Barrens. But first, you’re going to clear the dungeon with your high-level main character as far as The Crone (Charlga Razorflank), making sure to leave Overlord Ramtusk and his two bodyguards alone as well as the Blind Hunter, a rare-spawn white bat. If the bat isn’t there, then you can reset the instance up to 5 times an hour. Once you get lucky, invite a high-level friend to join your group, make them the group leader and go get your hunter. Now you can kill Overlord Ramtusk, his bodyguards and the Blind Hunter. After all that effort the Nightstalker Bow is not a guaranteed drop from the Blind Hunter, but luckily for me it dropped first time.

Harpyclaw Short Bow

The Harpyclaw Short Bow can be found on the Auction House and has similar stats to the Nightstalker Bow, minus the +3 Agility.

That’s the ranged weaponry identified, now let’s look at the melee stuff:

Armor Piercer

The Armor Piercer drops from one of the two Razorfen Spearhides guarding Overlord Ramtusk in Razorfen Kraul. A polearm, you will want to seek out Archibald the Weapon Master for Undercity in order to equip it. With a nice +16 Agility you won’t want to leave home without it.

Corpsemaker

Controversially perhaps, I’m going to list the Corpsemaker here. It’s the two-handed axe that drops off Overlord Ramtusk. Sure it has +15 Strength, but +8 Stamina and a massive maximum damage can’t be ignored?

Thornspike

At level 20, hunters gain the ability to dual-wield so you may wish to pursue that route with some nice daggers. From RFK the Thornspike is an oft-dropping Bind on Pickup (BoP) weapon from Aggem Thorncurse with +8 Agility. Combined with the Scout Blade, a PvP reward item with +7 Agility and +3 Stamina these two daggers may be of interest. A lot of dual-wielding PvP hunters carry The Butcher for the extra stamina but do note that this is a sword, so train early if you plan to go this route.

Conclusion

Once you leave the battlegrounds at level 20 you need to start planning. What’s your ranged weapon of choice? Is it a case of sticking with your bow or are you switching to a gun? if so, you’ll want a gun now and get skilled with it—and vice versa. Same goes for your melee weapon too.
