Level 29 PvP Hunter Twink Armor

A twink is a player character that is disproportionately powerful for its level, possessing potent items and high-end enchants that are generally way beyond the means of other players at that level. Twink items are acquired through rare drops, drops off of bosses in instances, as rewards from very difficult to complete quests, as gifts, or from the Auction House. Twink items on the Auction House are usually very expensive. The enchantments twinks typically have on their equipment can be performed only by higher level characters at the top of the enchanting profession and are usually very expensive. Therefore, twinking usually requires significant assistance from high-level alts, friends, and / or guild members. However, there are examples of self-made twinks that generate the necessary gold from Auction House trading or other in-game methods. Twinks are mainly used in PVP fighting or in Battlegrounds. WoW Wiki

Some careful planning and a little bit of luck is needed for this next level of PvP twinking and you’ll need the assistance of a high-level friend for the best kit. So, without further ado and in order of most desirable:

Head

The Enduring Cap is a random “blue” drop that sells well on the Auction House. Boasting +16 Intellect it will help boost your mana pool but not your looks—it’s as ugly as sin. Thank the maker for that “hide helmet” option.

Humbert’s Helm drops off Dun Garok Riflemen in the Hillsbrad Foothills so you can either farm for the item or keep an eye out on the Auction House. It boasts +7 Agility and +8 Stamina.

The Spirit Hunter Headdress is the quest reward for killing Frostmaw, a yeti in the Alterac Mountains north-west of Tarren Mill. It’s available from Melor Stonehoof in Thunderbluff after you’ve completed the quest (available at level 20) to kill Steelsnap a level 30 hyena. The leather headdress offers +10 Agility.

Shoulders

A random drop from Razorfen Kraul (RFK) in the southern Barrens there’s an opportunity to either farm the Mantle of Thieves or regularly checking the Auction House for these shoulders that add +10 Agility and +4 Stamina. I’ve lost count how many times I’ve ran RFK with my main hoping for this kit to drop. You’ll be getting very familiar with this dungeon as there are some nice weapons to be had from here also. Here’s what I said in the level 29 weapons post:

At level 23 you can get inside Razorfen Kraul (RFK)… But first, you’re going to clear the dungeon with your high-level main character as far as The Crone (Charlga Razorflank), making sure to leave Overlord Ramtusk and his two bodyguards alone as well as the Blind Hunter, a rare-spawn white bat. If the bat isn’t there, then you can reset the instance up to 5 times an hour. Once you get lucky, invite a high-level friend to join your group, make them the group leader and go get your hunter. Now you can kill Overlord Ramtusk, his bodyguards and the Blind Hunter.

Forest Tracker Epaulets (+11 Agility) are another random drop but I’ve always had luck off those yetis in the Hillsbrad Foothills. They crop up fairly regularly on the Auction House so again, check throughout the day.

Wrists

Barbaric Bracers are a crafted item and are easy to buy or get made for you. An easily-obtained item for once offering +4 Agility and +6 Stamina.

Hands

Razzeric’s Racing Grips. Now we’re making up for the ease of obtaining those bracers, these gloves are the final reward for a really long quest chain (10 quests). Available at level 29, you might need some help for some parts if only to ride shotgun as you find a downed blimp in Dustwallow Marsh. Seek out Pozzik in the Shimmering Flats of Thousand Needles to begin the quest chain with Load Lightening.

Back

The Tigerstrike Mantle is another randomly-dropping piece of armor so be on the lookout on the Auction House (and have deep pockets when it appears). +9 Agility and +7 Stamina.
The Parachute Cloak requires 225 engineering skill so if you’ve taken this profession and maxed it for your level you’ll be able to make it for yourself.

Chest

Two or more birds from one stone is cool, from the weapons post:

As soon as you hit level 28 head over to Hemet’s camp with an ungrouped high-level friend and pick up the first quest line, Panther Mastery. There are four parts to this quest with the final reward of Panther Hunter Leggings, very nice reward but as they are Bind on Pickup (BoP) we sadly won’t be able to put Clefthide Leg Armor on them. The next quest line is another four-parter for Tiger Mastery and gives Tiger Hunter Gloves as a final reward. The final pre-requisite is Raptor Mastery, again with four quests. The last quest requires the slaying of Tethis, a raptor hiding round the back of the Gurubashi Arena and rewards you with not only the unlocking of Big Game Hunter but also a Raptor Hunter Tunic. As you can see, we need to complete 13 quests for this rifle / gun and that’s a lot of XP. Start early, remain ungrouped, and just “tag” each beast with a shot before letting your friend finish it off.

So kill Tethis and enjoy the fantastic +16 Stamina of the Raptor Hunter Tunic.

If all that is too much effort or you’re in serious danger of tipping over into level 30 consider the player-crafted Raptor Hide Harness for +13 Stamina.

Waist

You’ll need 20 Arathi Basin Marks of Honor and 175 Honor Points before you can get the Defiler’s Chain Girdle. It won’t take long to get those Marks, so I settled for an Infiltrator Cord of the Monkey off the Auction House as an interim piece of kit.

Legs

I’ve scanned and scanned and scanned. Still no luck finding Troll’s Bane Leggings on the Auction House. +14 Agility and +4 Stamina makes them hot property. Petrolspill Leggings are a random drop from the Gnomeregan dungeon in north-western Dun Morogh—with two more points in stamina over the Troll’s Bane Leggings, these may be worth the long trip with your main character to see if they drop from the mobs inside. I have some standbys in place namely some player-crafted Barbaric Leggings and Infiltrator Pants of Agility.

Feet

Defiler’s Chain Greaves will cost 175 Honor Points and 20 Arathi Basin Marks of Honor so in the meantime the trusty Warsong Boots obtained through the quest Warsong Supplies at level 22 will continue in service.

Rings, Necklaces and Trinkets

The Rune of Duty trinket costs 139 Honor Points and 30 Warsong Gulch Marks of Honor from Kelm Hargunth in the northern Barrens and provides +4 Stamina and +3 health over 5 seconds.
For 2805 Honor Points the Insignia of the Horde will give you an opportunity to break free of movement-impairing effects once every five minutes. Switch this out whilst on its cooldown with the Defiler’s Talisman to enjoy some damage absorption.
The Scout’s Medallion is a necklace with +8 Agility and +4 Stamina from Kelm Hargunth. It will set you back 95 Honor Points and 20 Warsong Gulch Marks of Honor. The Advisor’s Ring and Legionnaire’s Band complete the ensemble from the Warsong Gulch PvP rewards.

  3. This is a good guide, used it to create my own 29 hunter. There is still some things to change:

    Trinket: Arena Grand Master
This is a very nice trinket, possible to get if u have good time. 30 min cooldown, so use the other ones too.

    Ring: Deadman’s Hand
Epic from Arcanist Doan in SM Library. I got it in 7 tries. really worth the farming!

    BTW Thanks for the guide!

  4. There are e few pieces missing on this list 🙂

Charged Gear (drops from thermaplugg in gnomeregan) – It can drop in a 6/7 monkey version and u can even use 2 rings at the same time, i’m planning on grinding 2 myslef 😉
And i have to agree with the post above – Deadman’s Hand rule, 10 stam amd 5 % chance to freeze attackers in their place for 3 sec, this works on spells, ranged and melee AND the effect allso applies to your pet! ^^

The helmet – u can get a 9/9 monkey version with a little luck from ah.

Watchmans pauldrons have better stats put together than all other shoulders listet in this guide, if the agi is needed from mantle of thieves u could slack on stam from weaps and just get the extra agi there.

Wrist – well, there are lvl 35+ wrists available for both alliance and horde –> bc anchant!
And there is a rarespawn from gnomeregan that drops some 5/5 ones of the monkey that allso have some resistance – but u have to grind for a long time.

For leggs… well, there is a reason for the ptroilspilled ones to say “keep away from fire” – one fireball and your dead, i’d pick trollbane instead.

Alliance can get am one-handed lvl 35+ axe from a q in duskwood at lvl 22+. it gives 8 critrating and u can apply 20 agi.

I cant remember names on all the items, so u have to do a little research yourself, but now u know theese items are available, hope it helps.

    Good luck twinking all! 😉

  5. Thanks For This Guide This Was A Good Starting Point

    1. Take Off Any Gear Your Not Going to Vender
    2. Run Into And Aggro Large Mob of Whatever
    3. Die, And Do NOT release
    4. get 70 to kill them all
    5. Let him rez you and you get to loot a corpses and get the credit for doing the quests but NO Xp

AND To Shikah the Petrolspill Leggings Do not give any sort of fire weakness and these make a good twink a great twink, also i have two of these pants of with
    1. Nethercobra Leg Armour (+50 AP and +12 Crit)
    2. Nethercleft Leg Armour (+40 Stam and +12 Aglity)
One For Max Dps and one for flag running
(Thats My Tip but if your strapped for gold)

And this guide did not touch on what makes hunters
    1. Pets
    Npc Name – Bellygrub
    Added With Bite 4
= Most Annoying And Strongest Pvp Pet
    2. Ranged Weapon
-Master Hunter’s Rifle -Or- Master Hunter’s Bow
Quest Item Starts – Hemet Nesingwary Jr.
(Starts At Level 28 Only Gives 8000 XP)
What Makes This The Best Is the Fact you can use the (+7 dmg scope on it-Sniper Scope) Open Trade With Level 40+ put gun in will not be traded and get it attached

  6. WROOOOOOONG ALL WROOOOOOONG !!!

    Patch destroyed it all.
    This page needs an update.
    No leg kits, no nothing.

But if anyone knows any good leather or cloth bracers that are item lvl 35(+) and can be done with a 29 char, let me know.

  7. Yeah the best pants now are from a quest for Gnomer…havent found any item level 35+ yet still looking.
